Mossy Earth is a social enterprise whose main aim is to deliver real environmental change and make a positive impact on the state of wilderness and forests. We do so by pro-actively working on several fronts. On the one hand we help fight climate change by engaging in carbon sequestration activities.

From my research on similar memberships, I've found Mossy Earth to have the most comprehensive approach. With in-house biologists, they study the project areas careful and avoid the typical trap of monocultures that most carbon offsetting programs fall into. Instead, they plant native trees, protect or reinstore wildlife habitat and reintroduce species, so the full ecosystem is restored in the long run. They work with local partners but the team is involved in every step of the projects, so they can track progress closely. They're also very approachable (obv small scale helps), the co-founders send you a personalised note when you sign-up, and you can schedule a call with the team to ask questions. Really nice execution!

This product makes it easy for anybody to make a tangible difference to the planet. For a small amount each month I get the satisfaction of knowing that slowly but surely my trees are adding up to make a difference, together with others taking the same steps. I appreciate they are incredibly transparent as you literally see pictures of each tree planted and a running total. I also really respect their more wholistic approach - they are not just planting trees, they are thoughtful about fitting with and synergistically improving the local biodiversity. I am very happy to put my money and vote behind this sophisticated, clever and passionate team.
