Mixroom lets artists share unfinished music, song drafts, and cuts that didn’t make the album by emailing mixes to music@mixroom.app. Most artists only publish their best music, and we want to create a place for the rest the songs fans are missing out on.
I have some objections as music maker. First of all my motivation to share something that is not finished, with a poor mixdown and/or not yet mastered is very low / unexistent. Also, if I share an unfinished idea it can be easily stolen. Lastly, if I want to share something unfinished, I can already do it on other existing platforms, such as Soundcloud (where I can also privately share links to "hidden" music with specific people) or blend.io and bandlab if i want to collaborate with other music makers on a shared piece of music.
@giulio_maselli all good points, we appreciate the feedback! We are actually shifting the app in another direction - posting incomplete songs that need mixing, vocals, guitar, lyrics, etc. and would love to know if you'd find that more useful!
@scoff the question as music maker always stays the same: why would I want to publish incomplete stuff? if you can answer this question then you have found the right direction for mixroom
If Spotify is the perfect Instagram post, Mixroom is the Story - the imperfect, rough draft.
If you're a music fan or artist, we'd love your feedback and thoughts on our app. We want artists to feel comfortable sharing less than perfect songs.
We need your help getting more artists on board - if you know any bands, or artists, please share!
