Minio is an open source object storage server compatible with Amazon S3 APIs. You can store any blob of data such as photos, videos, container/VM images, archives, logs etc as objects. In a simplistic sense, it is like a ZFS filesystem with simple get/put RESTful API. It also has built-in erasure code and bitrot protection capability which eliminates the need for RAID controllers.

Introduction: Minio is an open source alternative to Amazon S3 cloud storage. You can build your own object storage with Minio. It is best suited for storing unstructured data such as photos, videos, log files, backups and container / VM images. You can learn more about the project at https://minio.io/, get in touch with community at https://gitter.im/minio/minio.
We at Univention love working with the Minio developers and provide the software to a wide range of users via our UCS App Center. It is easily added, integrated and managed with all of our UCS Editions and Subscriptions.
