Hey guys, we've been working for a while on providing the best way to put real humans into virtual worlds (think of VR and AR). Seeing real humans in motion in 3D is VR or AR is a compelling experience, and this raises our expectations of the quality of the model in front of you.
Mimesys is really the simplest way to do it. If you have a Kinect 2 (or Intel R200), you just have to grab our SDK to record people you care about and integrate them easily in Unity apps or just share them directly in Sketchfab (see some examples here : https://sketchfab.com/mimesys).
This is a new medium, and we'd be very interested to see what you guys can do with it.
We're working on real-time and multicam, more to come on that!
360 videos are filling the VR content gap today because they are one of the easiest way to produce VR content, but with solutions like mimesys, we will be able to accelerate the transition towards full volumetric user generated movies. Here is an example of a 3D memory captured with mimesys: https://sketchfab.com/models/d42...
@palakzatakia Thanks! quality is a daily matter and we're constantly improving it. It's also of course a matter of hardware : we have tested our system with other setups, like 68 cams for this demo ; results are better but not so much! We're confident we'll achieve similar and greater quality with one to three cheap depth cams as the Kinect.
