Hi everyone,
The day after Messenger Day rolled out globally I was able to reverse engineer the private API that Messenger uses to fetch your friends' stories so I hacked together a quick little page that lets you view them on the web.
Simply sign in with Facebook, (no extra permissions needed - the app only needs your access token to authenticate the API request) and voilà, your friends' Messenger Days are magically there.
It might be boring if only 2 of your friends have a story on their Messenger Day (like me), but hopefully Messenger Day catches on. It took Instagram Stories a while to catch on. Speaking of Instagram Stories, I made a similar web app called Matcha that lets you view Instagram Stories on the web (https://www.producthunt.com/post...) and Chrome IG Story which lets you view them in Chrome (https://www.producthunt.com/post...).
Thanks and I hope you have a great (messenger ) day!
@binoyxj Hahaha, true. I've learned from Chrome IG Story that a good chunk of my users really love the download feature, so I decided to add a visible download button by default on each Messenger Day story. People love hoarding "ephemeral" moments 😛
