MB2kB is a simple online tool that lets you compress any image to a specific size. MB2kB also lets you compress any PDF to a specific size. The entire compression takes place locally inside your web browser and no files are uploaded to any servers.
Hello PH,
We launched the Bulk Image Compressor a few years ago on Product Hunt. It was a cloud-based Image Compression web app that let users compress multiple images at once without sacrificing quality.
However, we wanted to create an Image Compressor web app that works locally inside the browser and lets you compress your images to a specific size.
We had this requirement ourselves as quite a few of our government websites along with a few corporate websites require images to be uploaded in a specific size as part of certain procedures.
MB2kB solves this problem by helping you compress any image or PDF to a specific size. Everything happens locally inside your browser and your images or PDFs never leave your device.
How does it work?
- Drag and drop or select an image from your device.
- Enter your desired size.
- Click on Compress.
That's it. Quick and easy.
We'd appreciate any feedback you might have to help improve our app.
I need to try this out. There are some idiosyncracies around PDF compression that I've encountered recently, specifically when trying to export from Figma. I'd be interested to see if this can do what it says it can with those same files. If it can get the PDF to a specific target size (or even very closely in the range) it will be a game-changer for me! :)
@deejtulleken MB2kB will certainly help you compress your PDF down to a target size. However, since the compression happens on-device and inside your browser, it is a lossy compression so, you'll notice some quality loss depending on your target size. Do let me know how it goes for you when you try it. Cheers! :)
I remember when I had to upload images for a school project, and they had to be a specific size. It was so frustrating trying to figure out how to resize them without losing quality. This app seems perfect for that!
