What led to the decision to lock previously-accessible features (notifications and multiple accounts, specifically) behind a subscription paywall for those early customers that previously purchased the app? I ask because it's specifically against the Apple TOS for the App Store to require additional payment for previously included features (check out Airmail's kerfluffle for reference -- they ended up having to create a separate system to restore Push Notifications to those customers who had previously bought the 1-time purchase version of the app). I urge you to consider grandfathering in those customers who purchased the app at full price -- that's how this kind of transition is usually handled, in my experience. Also for what it's worth: I read your comment about the complaints, but all I see are complaints about losing features behind a new paywall. That's very different from complaining about a subscription model -- that's merely complaining about what is effectively a bait-n-switch.
