Map Layers allow you to discover nearby places based on the NFTs you own. Our assumption with this is that people who own the same NFTs as you likely have similar interests.
Map Layers give any NFT collection utility on Superlocal.
They give any NFT collection utility on Superlocal because any NFT collection can request a layer on the Superlocal Map. The layer will allow you to see all of the places other people who hold that NFT have gone to in the past or checked into last. You can only view a layer if you own a specific NFT collection.
This accomplishes two things:
It allows you to discover nearby places based on the NFTs you own. Our assumption with this is that people who own the same NFTs as you likely have similar interests. So if you want to find a nearby coffee shop to go to, open up a Map Layer and see if anyone else with a specific NFT has been to any coffee shops nearby.
It allows you to see if any other people who hold the same NFTs have recently checked in nearby. This is great for events, conferences, and facilitating IRL meeting moments serendipitously.
This is where we get a follow-for-follow going, isn't it?
Hit up @ogrady on Superlocal for photos of decaying foliage and 5 month's worth of atmospheric rivers.
