Hi Product Hunt 👋🏾, I'm Jade, Co-Founder of Mane Hook-Up. We've made this website with one thing in mind - to help you find and book local afro hair stylists with ease. As I transitioned back to my natural hair in 2018 (after chemically straightening it for 6+ years), I encountered a true struggle to find local hair stylists who really understood how to handle afro hair. This journey inspired me to create a product that could solve an ongoing problem that black women and men face globally. When the likes of Viola Davis, Gabrielle Union and Natasha Rothwell talk about the difficulties of getting afro hair stylists on set, we know there's a problem. I was also incredibly fortunate to meet my Co-Founder, Zoe, earlier this year at the Afro Hair & Beauty Show in London. And two months later, we have finished the first version of Mane Hook-Up - which is a huge achievement considering we have only just started working together. Zoe and I know how tough it is to find stylists who really know how to handle our hair and, in a digital age, we should be able to rely on more than recommendations and word of mouth. So, the first version of Mane Hook-Up allows you to find and book appointments with the best afro hair stylists in your area. Giving you the options that you truly deserve. No hassle, no fuss and no stress. By giving stylists additional visibility we are also trying to empower and provide them with a place to find more local clients. The black hair and beauty industry is often spoken of, but the people who need these services are rarely catered for. So we plan on bridging that gap. This is very much just the beginning! There is more that we want to do with Mane Hook-Up in the future. But right now, we would love to know what you think so that we can channel our energy into making it even better for you.
