I never appreciated Kobe for being the legend he is. In a game of (increasingly more) softees, he's remained quite the opposite. It takes a real savage to have literally no reaction to this:
@andrewmettinger This was awesome. I remember watching this. Funny thing is Barnes ended up becoming a Laker after this. Same with Artest going after Kobe in the playoffs, and next year, they were teammates.
@bentossell@andrewmettinger@hbarnes is awesome! Got to watch him play the other day against the Lakers! Glad I went to that game, although the Warriors smoked the Lakers by almost 40 points!
So sad to hear that @KobeBryant is finally hanging it up. 😥 I know it's time, but it just won't be the same watching the Lakers. I've been following him since I was 8 years old, and now, 20 years later I'm out of college, married, and have a career. Crazy that for most of my life, I was watching him play. I could remember asking my parents to buy me the latest Kobe shoes, and I remember while I played ball in High School, trying to emulate all of Kobe's moves.
As a little tribute, I made a website showcasing the good things people are saying about Kobe from around the league and from others in the sports and entertainment world. Feel free to share and let me know if I missed some other quotes.
