Hey everyone! I'm Shahnaz and I'm one of the makers of Mademyself. Together with my co-founder William we had an idea to help people make their own clothes. This is our first product launch on PH and we're super excited! 🚀 Our goal is to encourage people to make their own sustainable clothes. Why? Because currently up to 93% of major brands aren't paying their garment factory workers a minimum wage. Fashion companies still employ significant amount of child labor in clothes manufacturing. To make things even worse we consume more than 2 billion t-shirts every year with each t-shirt taking 766 gallons of water (10 bath tubs). By making our own clothes we are less likely to throw them away and we get to ensure every aspect of the manufacturing process is clean. It might sound like a complicated task but we found that through proper guidance anyone, even a novice in sewing could do it. This is why we have carefully understood the pain points of making your own clothes today: You have to search for a pattern, download print, assemble and cut it, then choose the fabric, superimpose the pattern on it, cut the fabric, and finally sew it all together. This is easier said than done. In our kit we provide your chosen fabric already pre-cut based on your measurements and ready to be assembled. We took inspiration from IKEA and put stickers on each part and drew lines on the fabric so you could sew along it and recorded step by step tutorials to help even a complete novice sew a T-shirt from A to Z. Also, we sell 100% organic fabric ♻️ We tested our kits with a few people and improved it with their feedback. So we felt it's time to release our MVP on Product Hunt. I like the idea to make your own clothes from parts you get delivered. To be honest, i expected a lower price. Ikea for example is still unbeatable in this area too. Are there plans to extend it on other products? I can imagine that this would be interesting for sneakers too, where you have a bigger price span and more potential to decrease the costs. greetings from frankfurt

@fresh_food Hi Alexander! Thank you so much for this constructive feedback. You are right. We have to rework our pricing a bit. What we did was compare ourselves with the existing sustainable brands and placed ourselves lower than them. But as you said if we are to brand ourselves as the IKEA of clothing we need to also offer the same price ranges. Regarding your question we absolutely plan to release more streetwear products, such as sweatshirts, hoodies and pants for both men, women and others. We never thought about sneakers, but what a great idea! Noted! :) Thank you and greetings from your neighbors in france!
