I wanted a good looking UI for chatting privately with AI that also works with all of my favorite AI models. So I created LocoStudio, a desktop app where you can chat with AI models hosted locally on your computer or in the cloud.
Here's what you can do with LocoStudio:
- Run AI models directly on your Mac: Your data never leaves your device—no internet required.
- Chat with your favorite models in one place: Seamlessly switch between local models (from Ollama) and cloud models (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini) without juggling multiple apps.
- Chat with YouTube videos: Ask questions about that long podcast or explainer video. Get insights and read the video transcript directly in the app.
- Chat with PDFs and Images privately: Chat with sensitive documents without worrying about your data going out into the internet.
- Compare responses across models: Chat with multiple AI models side-by-side simultaneously for easily comparing responses.
- Web search: Get the most recent data from the web in your chat. No third-party APIs required. Works with local models as well.
- No Subscriptions: If you're using cloud models, bring your own API keys and pay only for what you use.
- Easy setup in minutes: Upon installation, you'll be guided through how to setup local or cloud models on your computer step-by-step.
- Privacy-first: We never store, process, or have access to your data. The app works directly with the cloud providers. It works completely offline if you use local AI models.

My favorite feature: Chating with Youtube videos.
Super helpful for summarizing the key points in a long podcast and finding a specific section I wanted to listen to again.
