Loco Looper was designed and written as a long term passion project. A new sub-genre of puzzle game, where there’s hundreds of possible solutions to the harder levels, yet it’s a brain teaser to find just one.
Designed for touch screens, a “finger painting” control scheme was developed to lay down and replace track as fast as possible. Without it gameplay would be near impossible at the scale of some of the puzzles.
The game’s custom 3D engine was written mostly in Swift and Metal to squeeze out as much performance as possible from mobile hardware. This also allowed for more experimental features like the 3D parallax effect which gives the illusion of real screen depth.
I'm hoping to show it's still possible to succeed without chasing whales / dark addiction patterns, make BIG things as an indie, and if you have a vision - we have the tools to make it happen. 🚀
