@meredithchin tell us the background here :)
What do you feel about artists who ask people not to use their phones at concerts? This would effect some concerts of course...
Do you think that it is in the artists hands to decide whether people who didn't pay for the concert (or didn't manage to get a ticket!) should or shouldn't be able to see the show? Have you had feedback from people on this before?
Hi, @bentossell ! I'm actually going to kick it to our CEO, @asanfy to give you some background about LiveList and answer your questions. He's been in the music industry a long time so can offer some thoughtful perspective.
Hey @bentossell -- I started LiveList as a venue owner & festival producer, imagining how I could share the experience of the shows I was watching every night with music lovers around the world that couldn't attend for whatever reason. The idea of being tapped into every live streaming concert or performance, and being notified right when they go live excited me both professionally and personally.
To get to your question -- LiveList is dedicated to delivering official live streams from performances that are sanctioned by the artist, and so don't offer fan feeds in our product at this point -- but we do support fans capturing memories at shows as long as it doesn't affect other fans, or the artist's living.
There is no replacement for going to a live show!! No way! But, I believe technology is revolutionizing the live concert industry by allowing unprecedented access to all these shows that were not previously accessible. Live streaming is creating a new way for artists to connect intimately with their fans in a scaleable way, and to monetize those fans that are most apt to support the artist. For those of you reading -- imagine accessing every available live streaming concert in the world, and setting reminders for your favorite artists or allowing us to curate some channels & genres for you. Live music at your fingertips...from everywhere, from anywhere.
@asanfy do you think that when you support fan feeds that then may become a problem?
I suppose people can Meerkat/Periscope already but jI'm just thinking of those artists who really don't like people using mobiles at their concerts!
Festivals aren't so bad, I went to Glastonbury and no one knows what's going on!
Hey Product Hunters! We're currently working through our next stage of development including: improving recommendations, making sure the "Watch" experience is as seamless as possible from platform to platform, tweaking the onboarding experience to make it clearer and simpler, launching on Android. If anyone here has best practices or pitfalls to avoid as we continue building, would love to hear them. Thanks!
@bentossell we will be very careful to help support a pro-fan & pro-artist environment if we decide to start including user generated video. That said, many of the shows that are being produced are not in venues or public performances, and are performed for the online fan! Studios, Q&A's, song-writing sessions, you name it. Finally a chance to get behind the scenes and see the artist process.
And yes, for all those fans holding up phones at concerts, be cool! Don't block views for others :)
