What do you think? …

Ria Blagburn
I'd love it if this was available in the UK, but it doesn't look like it :(
David Donovick
@riaface Thanks for your support! Yes, as a Seattle based startup, we are razor focused on successfully launching in the USA, however we are looking at international markets for 2015. Stay tuned!

@daviddonovick Thanks David - I'd love a heads up when you go global!

Interesting business model flip. Only thing I wonder about is how you can get a hardware upgrade when they launch the Life Tracker 2?
David Donovick
@bramk Great question. We believe in a world where hardware across of all form factors and verticals may be free or low cost, with rich software and services providing value to users on those devices. Not too different from the telco model, each annual membership to Pivotal Living will include a complimentary device and our members will be allowed to renew for another 12 months at anytime, whether that be if they lose their device or we release another (new) model.

@daviddonovick @bramk thanks for the answer! Love the telco model for a hardware startup, curious to see how that works out. Too bad you only ship in the US. Maybe I can get one when I'm there in March ;)

I assume the rub with this is selling aggregate fitness data...
David Donovick
@JadoJodo Simply put, we are not in the business of selling ads. It clutters the user experience and design elements. I don't like them any more than you do. We also do not have plans to sell our members data to 3rd party companies. As you might have seen in Geekwire (http://www.geekwire.com/2014/piv...), which explains a little bit more about our company and vision, we are more focused on using de-identified/anonymized data for health and wellness research breakthroughs, providing our members with more personalized algorithmic based coaching, and other premium features which will be possible as we expand beyond the "bread and butter basics" of the Life Tracker 1. It personally excites me to think about the possibility of a near future where we can move from reactive detection monitoring to using technology for preventive interventions... which saves lives, health care costs for our members, and fast tracks the quantified self movement. These goals may seem lofty, but we are not some pump and dump scheme. Rather, we are committed to the long haul and we plan to share more information as we formally launch in the next couple weeks.
