Learn Python through Fairy Tales

Nursery rhymes and fairy tales translated into Python code

Nursery rhymes and fairy tales have been translated into over a hundred languages, but never a computer programming language…until now. This book is in the form of a traditional fairy tale storybook, but it tells the stories with Python code.

Hey everyone! I’m creating a unique Python programming book called Learn Python through Nursery Rhymes and Fairy Tales. I realized that the classic stories from hundreds of years ago are great teaching tools for learning to code. The simplicity and logic of the poems/stories allows them to be “translated” into computer programs that demonstrate different programming concepts. Every Python program outputs the text of the nursery rhyme or fairy tale through the logic of the program. Each Python program page has an accompanying full-page illustration next to it that depicts the nursery rhyme or fairy tale (which is split into multiple pages). I’m working with an artist to create these whimsical illustrations. I hope this book makes it fun and easy to learn Python with familiar stories. It’s currently on Kickstarter, which ends on October 5th. I’d love to hear any questions or comments you have. Thank you!

This looks neat, as someone who JUST started learning JavaScript, python was the next language I was going to learn. Do you have any plans to expand into other languages?

@themariocosey Thank you Mario! Yes, I do plan to create versions of this book in other languages in the future (including JavaScript!). :)
