Kitchenful is an app for personalized recommendations of recipes that also gets you the ingredients delivered from a local grocery store. They offer the same convenience as meal kits do, but with better personalization at a lower price point.
👋 Hey PH, I’m Christian and here together with my co-founder and namesake, Christian, we are the founders of Kitchenful.
⛔️ The problem
Prior to starting Kitchenful I worked at HelloFresh (popular meal kit service) for over 4 years. As a user myself, I found that the service wasn’t flexible enough to accommodate my personal preferences. It also didn’t relieve me of having to head to the grocery store, as I still required breakfast ingredients, snacks and beverages etc.
However, without a meal kit, my girlfriend and I found ourselves burdened by the question of “What should we have for dinner?” nearly every day. It was annoying for both of us.
To solve this, we started sketching meal plans on the weekend and then ordering groceries online for home delivery. Amazingly, this changed our whole mood and feeling throughout the week. We found ourselves eating better and feeling better in the process. Unfortunately, the meal planning and placing the related order still took me hours.
✅ The solution
With a technical background, I was interested in automating the process as much as possible so that we could stick with it, and just like that; Kitchenful was born.
With Kitchenful, our users receive a curated menu of recipes according to their personal preferences and dietary requirements each week. They can easily choose recipes and add additional products from their grocer’s inventory to the cart (you can also deselect ingredients which you already have at home, so you only get what you need to cook). Kitchenful then takes care of placing the order on behalf of the user, minimizing food waste (e.g. by using pantry items and providing left over ideas) and saving valuable time for the user.
In a nutshell, you’ll get:
1. A weekly meal plan that offers a delicious variety of simple meals and doesn't require you to think
2. Grocery lists, with the ingredients then delivered by your local supermarket
3. Peace of mind that meals are aligned with your tastes, health goals and cooking abilities
By helping people to eat better and save time and energy on meal planning and grocery shopping, we believe we can help them feel better and have more energy for family, friends, work, and hobbies.
We’d love to hear about your own experiences with cooking at home throughout the week and discovering new dishes.
We’ve also set up a 14-Day free trial period for anyone who’s interested in trying our service out: https://www.kitchenful.com.
Any ideas/feedback/questions you might have about what we’re building are more than welcome! Thank you!
@sch1ller Congratulations on the launch! The origin story reminds me so much of our "why" at Speechly.
Calling out my own bias toward voice tech here but I would love a voice integration that would let me speak and adjust the ingredients needed hands-free as I checked my fridge and pantry.
Oh this is amazing! I've been using recipe boxes for the convenience of not having to think of what meals to make and figuring out all the ingredients, but it can get pricey, it doesn't really let you customize the meals, and there really aren't that many plant-based options usually (seems like you've got a dedicated category for it though?). This sounds just perfect.
It seems like it's US only though? Would love if it was available too in the UK! :)
@alyssaxuu Thanks Alyssa! Yes, we serve a lot of users who are especially interested in plant-based meals.
Currently we focus on the US, but feel free to leave your contact details here so we can notify you once we’re live in the UK: https://forms.gle/YLWxpqtGbNyLhfDfA
