Kintsugi Voice is an API-first platform that uses novel voice biomarkers in speech to identify, prioritize, and care for mental health in real-time. Our technology integrates with call centers, telehealth systems, and remote patient monitoring apps to help more people get the right care at the right time.
Kintsugi captured my attention for several reasons. I love to see innovative use of AI in the mental health space. Kintsugi develops machine learning algorithms that analyze short clips of free-form speech for vocal features that correlate with clinical depression and anxiety. The API allows for integration with call centers, telehealth platforms, and apps. It's important to note for those concerned with privacy - it doesn't use NLP and instead analyzes how people speak, not the content of their speech.
Kintsugi made Forbes' AI 50 list for North America in 2022. The Bay Area-based company is female-founded by a software engineer and a machine learning scientist, Grace Chang and Rima Seiilova-Olson.
@sarah_wright7 They say this on the website, regarding the journaling app:
“Simply talk (about anything) and see insights into your mental health on any given day. Improve your mental wellness with cognitive behavioral therapy exercises, track your emotional progress, and get community support.”
It sounds very intriguing, but it’s only available on iOS and costs 25$. As a one-time purchase, that’s fine, but if I don’t know whether it works first, I’m not keen on forking it out.
@anna_0x Thanks, good point in pointing out that part since I was focused on the API. It sounds like they started with the API so the journaling may have more to go.
