You know how dating apps work? Well, this is kinda like that but instead of finding someone to cuddle with on a cold, lonely night, Kindreds helps musicians find other musicians that they can jam and make music with.
Hi everyone,
TLDR intro:
I reached a point playing drums where I would have loved to meet people to make music with but I didn't have the time nor the inclination to go out to try and meet new people.
Long intro:
A little over 20 years ago, I was lucky enough to be able to play percussions for a metal band that gained a following in the Philippines.
This happened at a time when mp3s were taking over cd's and cassettes as the main means for people to access music. The music we were playing was also a fairly new thing in a country where the radio stations were mainly playing ballads and top forty hits.
In short, I was in a pretty popular band, but we really barely made enough money to even say that we could make basic expenses. So I decided to quit the band because I had to get a real job. Years later, my passion for the congas evolved into a passion for drums. At that point, I practiced every day and felt that I was improving and wanted to make music.. The catch was that everyone I knew just wanted me to go back to the old band .. I also didn't really have the time nor the inclination to go out and try to meet new people.
Intro over...

Yes, I am aware that another 'tinder-for-(insert niche here)' is a joke of an idea. I am also aware that this isn't necessarily a SAAS app. . . so my expectations for this app gaining any sort of traction here are not too high. However, I know that there is a good chance that some people here could share the a similar situation I have.. Some could be living in a place where they just moved to (same as me moving in to the bay area 2 years ago), some could be a little on the introverted side, and some could simply be too busy but still want to spend their free time being creative musically.
This is also obviously in a very early stage and there are tons of features that could be added, but I decided on this small amount of features so I could get the app running, get feedback, and gain insights as soon as I can.
After this, I will move to a stage where I will try and target a very specific group of people to see how I can obtain a small, atomic set of users. Insights from people from a similar industry or business who have grown their product would be appreciated.
The main goal for this app is to be able to be a creative catalyst for musicians who would have otherwise not been able to find other people to make music with due to their circumstances.
If you also think this app would be useful to you, the app might not have a lot of users yet when you join, so I will also ask you to spread the word about it as well, so that others can also benefit from it. I appreciate you being an early adopter and helping grow this.
