Hey Product Hunt! I’m Katie. I head up the Kensho Scribe product team. Let me cut to the chase: If you’re not transcribing right now, you’re missing out on reaching your audience. 🗣 Why does transcription matter? Today, 92% of mobile users watch videos with the sound turned off. In addition to the 11.5 million hearing-impaired people in the US, most subway riders, patients in office waiting rooms watch videos with the sound turned off, or skim the transcript of a TED Talk before taking the time to watch. Data contained in audio and video files doesn’t get indexed for searching until it's been transcribed. Human transcription is too expensive and takes a long time, and most AI transcription is inaccurate. We solved these problems. If you have audio or audiovisual files, you need transcription, and Scribe is the most accurate, secure, transcription tool available today. 📈 Our growth story: We started when we built an effective tool for a specific need – transcribing S&P Global's quarterly earnings calls. You know S&P Global from the S&P 500 stock index. They've been recording and transcribing earnings calls for decades, so our partnership with them gave us 180,000+ hours of audio and the corresponding perfect-quality human transcriptions. It was effective not only because we had brilliant AI and ML engineers from MIT and Harvard on our team, but also because we had access to So Much Data. Training data quality is one of machine learning’s biggest challenges, and we had access to a data gold mine to improve our tool. Kensho Scribe kicks ass at transcribing earnings calls. 🌱 That’s how we found ourselves a year ago with one of the best transcription platforms in the world, but only two customers…. You heard me right, two. Because we had built Scribe to address an internal need, we weren't focused on building a UI, since our customers both used it via an API. Basically our entire Scribe budget went to engineering. And team happy hours. 😬 🍸 👨‍🔬 But we knew we had something special. Scribe blew away the competition, in terms of accuracy with financial jargon and various English accents. We knew that S&P Global with high standards for security and accuracy would be the ultimate reference customer. 💡 In 2022 we expanded Scribe. We conducted user research, expanded our UI/UX team, ramped up marketing and business development, and decided to put ourselves in places like this -- Product Hunt. 🧑‍🎓 We grew our offerings in podcasts, call centers, and closed captioning. We doubled down on our AI-human hybrid service, Scribe Human-in-the-Loop to elevate Scribe’s accuracy from 95+% to 99+%. We resisted the urge to use stock photos of humans and robots collaborating. 🤔 Use cases - Accurately transcribe difficult audio with jargon, company names, currencies, and various accents 🌎 - Foster inclusivity and accessibility for individuals with disabilities 👥 - Identify topic tags within your video or audio 🎥 - Automatically find and censor personally identifiable information (PII) from transcripts 🔎 - Protect yourself against insider trading by finding sensitive phrases within a call like “I shouldn’t be telling you this but…” 🖥️ 📱 🧡 And…. our user base has grown exponentially. (“Hell yeah.” - Jimmy, who pays the bills for the happy hours and such.) Challenge us! Want to try Scribe? We have you covered. We’re no longer just the best earnings call transcribers. Give us your hardest, messiest audio and watch Scribe get it right. 😤💪🏼Sign up at http://scribefreetrial.com to get started. **🦄** Each free trial account will receive 150 free minutes of transcribed audio. Go ahead. Hit us with terms like EBITDA, COGS, anesthetics, and ‘polycrystalline solar panels.’ Test it yourself for free! We’re excited for you to check us out, -Katie, Product Lead @ Scribe PS… We’re hiring! https://kensho.com/careers#avail

Review Kensho Scribe Transcription?

Kensho Scribe Transcription is praised for its exceptional accuracy, especially with diverse speakers and jargony audio, outperforming competitors in these areas. Users appreciate its strong natural language processing capabilities and easy-to-use API, though some note that speed could be improved. The service is particularly effective for financial transcription, handling accented and business-related audio with high precision. While the UX is considered limited, the overall performance and reliability make it a standout choice for transcription needs.

Handles a more diverse speaker set better than competitors, e.g. women speakers and English speakers with accents. Also great for jargony audio where competitors fall down
