Kanda is building Affirm for general contractors. We let builders offer their customers a pay monthly option when they want a remodel but don't want to pay the full price upfront. Backed by YC (W21).
Hey PH!
We're Phil, Rich & Rob, and we are the co-founders of Kanda 🛠
Over 80% of construction businesses in Europe are SMB's, yet only 10% of them are eligible to offer payment plans to their customers. Lenders put arbitrary barriers to entry like unreasonable turnover requirements, so local contractors are frozen out and bigger companies can dominate the market.
Kanda lets any contractor, of any size, offer payment plans to their customers, leveling the playing field for small businesses.
Rich ran an electrical contracting firm for 10 years and realized that the local contractors were being left behind by the buy now, pay later revolution, and he found himself squeezed out of opportunities that larger companies could take.
Together with his cousin (and astrophysicist!) Rob and family friend Phil, we set out to help local contractors fight back.
We decided to build Kanda to help other contractors just like Rich start thriving again.
Let us know your questions or thoughts?
Thanks!
- Phil, Rich, Rob
@javier_sanchez_mejorada1 It's been great. We have over 200 contractors using us and we are growing 25% a month. It's been hard to get to this point. Figuring out the UI for this sort of user demographic has been tough, but we've started to get something close to smooth onboarding!
@loslivs we're built by tradespeople for tradespeople, so we focus on making the product useable by service providers. Often it can be hard for a service provider to just 'offer finance options' because they have to integrate it into their workflow so we do all of that. Wisestack is great and we love their approach too. Its awesome that service providers are getting options... finally!
