We've opened up this tool in a completely disinterested manner. We've launched other successful free tools, like our Temporary Email or Virus Scan services. We're not monetizing these in any way; it is completely open source. But we really hope that it helps you stay safe online very straightforwardly. If we manage to get your support & enough people use our VPN, we will keep developing this free tool to add more features to it - eg ability to choose location, desktop app, mobile app, etc

How is it free? Why is it free?
When it comes to VPN, I don't think being free will put anyone's mind at ease. There will be doubts about data being intercepted and collected to monetize in other ways while the service itself is free on the surface.
@naomigarcia we don't earn any money from this project in particular. We're in the business of protecting user privacy. Our main source of income comes from subscriptions for some others of our products https://internxt.com/
@fvsegarra I have the same concern as @naomigarcia. Maintaining VPN servers in different locations incurs recurring costs. [For VPN, it will be huge] How do you plan to sustain running the free VPN?
I know Cloudflare WARP provides a free VPN and proxies, but they're not exactly the same. It seems impossible to offer a free VPN unless there's something you're not revealing.
@naomigarcia@knilkantha we're a sustainable company, earning from our subscription services being sold at https://internxt.com/ We have had other free tools for a long time, like our temporary email service, virus scan, and now the VPN as well. If we were to offer the VPN alone, it'd indeed be unsustainable, but you have to look at the VPN as part of a whole sustainable company, that offers other services too and is able to run certain services at a loss in benefit of awareness or helping more people protect their privacy online
