Thank you @katmanalac for hunting! Hello Product Hunt, CPG brands spend north of $500 bn in trade marketing annually to buy prime shelf space in retail stores and influence consumer decisions. However, they have little visibility on if their money is being put to a good use, and the primary way to monitor the quality of in-store execution is for someone to manually eye-ball billions of products across millions of stores, take their notes, digitise them and share it with the sales and marketing team. @eunice_wong1 used to manage 50 retail outlets in one of her previous roles, and half of her time was spent travelling to stores doing this manual eye-balling and auditing. This process is not only tedious and expensive, but also at best 70% accurate. Additionally, the reports are retroactive, typically reaching the decisions makers after a week or even a month of audits. And that is why, we decided to build Instashelf, a mobile based solution that converts photographs into real-time actionable insights enabling perfect in-store execution. A typical user is a sales representative or a merchandiser visiting a store on their usual beat, clicking photographs and uploading them on our server. Our AI models then identify products in these photographs down the SKU level (brand/ flavour/ pack-size/ promotional packs), note their placement and pricing, and generate reports almost instantly. Instashelf runs on mobile phones with a 2 MP+ camera (practically any cellphone!) and is capable of doing the audits offline. The reports include insights on product availability, pricing, new products or promotions by competitors, share of shelf and adherence to planogram requirements. All of this is delivered in an intuitive and easy-to-use dashboard showing immediate issues to improve operations and long-term trends to use in strategy.
