ImportYeti searches public bill of ladings available via the Freedom of Information Act. Every large eCom owner or FBA Seller uses this information but it was previously too cost prohibitive, challenging to obtain and difficult to use for the average joe.
This is really killer. I've been following this since day 1 on Reddit.
A few questions:
1) Are you planning on charging for this in the future? / what is the business model?
2) I'd love it if there was more of Table Of Contentsesque way to view the hs codes
3) I'd love the ability to export the data into excel
4) Is there data available for countries outside of the US?
Once again, this is really epic stuff. I'm wishing you the best!
@gamblers_united
I appreciate the comment and thank you for your kind words!
I am hoping to monetize the site through a combination of hyper targeted ads, donations and course content. The traffic on the site is very niche (people looking to import or export products from overseas) and thus hopefully valuable for 3PLs, freight forwarders, etc. We've already received 152+ donations over the past 60 days.
That being said, we will have to see how this monetization strategy pans out. If I can't make the site profitable that method, I will likely charge a small amount a month.
I love the TOC idea. It's a semi-common request and I'm currently working on implementing it. We have a rough version done but need to change the way it loads on the page for performance reasons. I expect this to be live in the next week or so.
As of right now, we don't have any plans to export the raw BOL or vendor table into excel / csv. Could you help me understand what you'd want to to export it for and what format you'd like it in?
It depends on the country, the US is really the only large country with this level of data.
ImportYeti searches 70,000,000 public bill of ladings to help you find the right supplier. You can answer questions like:
1. Who makes Bass Pro Shop's 4 Burner Gas Griddle? Answer: NINGBO HUIGE OUTDOOR PRODUCTS
2. I thinking of buying barbells from a company I found on Alibaba called Nantong Leeton Fitness Co., the #1 ranking company on Alibaba for the term "barbell". Is Nantong Leeton Fitness Co. the right supplier? Answer: No. They are a big company but primarily sell resistance bands & foam rollers. They are likely outsourcing their heavy metal work creating a more costly product for you and you're more likely to have quality issues as well.
3. Who are the top companies & suppliers who import/export under HS Code 42.02.92 -- trunks & suitcases?
4. Who are the top companies & suppliers who import/export under HS Code 42.02.92 out of Indonesia?
I only want to create things that people really love. If you enjoyed this tool, have any ideas for how to improve it, or found a bug/usability issue, I want to hear from you. Please PM me or comment below anytime
This is easily one of the essential tools every vendor should use. From cold calling and prospecting with E-Mail to increasing the buy and closing, this product will make the job of vendors very easy.
Just one suggestion. If it is possible to include firms that provide services - management consulting, law firm, market research firm etc it will make this tool even more robust.
Be that as it may, this is a very useful product. Thank you for sharing.
@dsarkar Can you help me understand a little bit more what you mean by firms that provide services? Are you asking to include which vendors any company uses? E.x. Nike uses this marketing agency?
@davemapplegate I was referring to firms like Deloitte, A.C. Nielsen, McKinsey & Co to name just three, who are providing services like Accounting, Market Research and Management Consulting.
So what I was trying to figure out is, if a user enters the name of these firms, will they be able to view the public bill of ladings of these firms as well.
Was I able to answer your question? If not let me know, I'll try again.
