👋 Hey Product Hunters! I’m excited to introduce img2icns, a free web tool that converts your icon images (PNG, SVG, JPG, WEBP) to ICNS format for macOS applications. As a new developer, I struggled to find a reliable online tool that could produce actual ICNS files, especially when I needed icons for my macOS desktop app. This frustration led me to create img2icns. img2icns is designed to be simple and efficient. Just drag and drop your image, and within seconds, you can download your ICNS file. No complex software installations or steep learning curves required. My goal is to provide solo developers and designers with a quick and easy solution to create high-quality icons. Key Features: 1. Ease of Use: Simply drag & drop your images and download the ICNS files effortlessly. 2. Supports Multiple Formats: Convert PNG, SVG, JPG, and WEBP images. 3. High-Quality Output: Ensures icons meet Apple’s standards and look great on all devices. 4. Security: No images are stored on our servers after conversion. Your feedback is incredibly valuable to me as I continue to improve img2icns. Please feel free to comment with any suggestions or issues. Thank you for your support, and I hope img2icns helps you on your solodev journey! With ❤️, Walter Tay

@waltertay congrats for launch! It's always good to see when someone had a friction in the process somewhere and decided to solve it for themselves and others. Just put some examples and scenarios where this is a life saver.

This is a fantastic tool for macOS developers! What inspired you to focus specifically on converting images to the ICNS format?
Walter Tay
@memphys_sk Hey Stefans! I was building a macOS app and couldn't find a converter online that worked for my icon haha.

Congrats Walter 🥳 Pretty cool. I have tried it and works perfectly! My suggestion would be to slowly make it more like a standard website. I am saying this because I felt a bit scarier to use it, purely because it reminds me of a lot of bare-bone websites online which I normally avoid using. Other than that, it is cool!

@theanamoura Thank you! Yeah it's pretty bare bones right now 😅 but good point! I'll have to think about the look haha
Ana Mouratidou
@waltertay well the important thing is that you went ahead and did it 💪
