Homescreen.me began its journey almost six years ago on August 15th, 2010 as a simple website that offered anyone the ability to upload and share their iPhone homescreens with their friends and followers anywhere, including Twitter and Facebook, with just a simple link
Today, Homescreen.me is a freshly launched service where iOS enthusiasts can not just browse homescreens of hand-picked and Featured users, but also upload and share their own homescreens with their friends and followers. We also support the Apple Watch, so if you have a watch face that’s worth taking a look at, you can share that too.
In fact, we started off by building an iOS app which allowed you to share your iPhone homescreens and watch faces super easily - but got rejected by Apple (More details about that here : http://bit.ly/homescreenstory). Since the App had hit a dead-end, we decided to revamp the existing Homescreen.me website with learnings from the app and optimised it to today’s standards.

@sonaal Hi Sonaal, sweet idea! I have just uploaded my home screen, but do not see it on home page / featured screens. Should I do something to appears on home page / featured homescreens?
@goobkin thanks for trying out homescreen.me. Currently the featured section is curated by the team. We are working on ways to make the experience better for all, with a featured section, recently added section as well as the ability to search for profiles. Right now you can view your profile at homescreen.me/your-username and share it with everyone.
Would like to be able to browse homescreens of people without signing up first.... I cant really see the platform or who is on there so wouldnt sign up before I knew more.
@bentossell we do have a featured section on the top right which gives you access to their profiles but we are working on ways to make 'explore' better (popular, recently added as well as search)
We've seen a few homescreen sharing apps over the past ~year, including Homescreen and Homer, both of which aren't being worked on anymore. Of course, ideas that have been tried before can succeed but where do you think those services failed and how is Homescreen.me different, @sonaal? Super interested to hear your thoughts on this. 😀
@rrhoover While other services have been focused on app discovery, in a way that, "X app is used by 5000 people" or something along those lines. We on the other hand are focusing on your friends and people you look up to. As a user, more than 5000 users use X app, I care if Y user I follow uses that app. Similarly, if I see a new app installed on someone's screen I follow, I am more likely to follow it.
We think Homescreen.me’s differentiator is the fact that it is more focused on the user’s story about why they have arranged their home screen in a particular way, what wallpaper they use, what are their favourite apps, how does their watch face look like. Not just that, when @preshit started off in 2010, long before other services did, Homescreen.me always offered a platform for anyone to show off their devices. We used to see people asking questions like, "Hey, do you have the white iPhone 3GS or the black one?". We make it easy to display the device as well.
Also we wanted an easy way to see when and how our personal devices have changed over time. For instance, users can view all their past uploads and see how their homescreen has evolved and when did they change their device. All these features were already part of the iOS app, but we are rolling them on the web with each iteration.
Some of the other features we are working on
* Ability to embed on your own site or blog
* Ability to follow other users and get notified when they upload a new screen
* iPad support
* Better discovery via featured users and recently added profiles
