Hi Product Hunters!👋🏼 I want to share a piece of software that started off as a simple productivity tool for myself but grew into something that I want to share with everyone. I want to introduce you to heißdocs, an open-source, self-hosted document (for now PDF) query engine. It aims to make dumb PDFs searchable and queryable. Leverage the power of multiple cloud providers, elastic search, and OpenAI to add a smart text + semantic search layer on top of your PDFs. Everything is self-hosted and configurable by you, so you are in complete control. Who is this for? Well, anyone! Anyone with documents. Let me tell you a real story. My wife sent in her degree by post to her prospective university and they are struggling to find it. Well, if they scanned it and uploaded it to heißdocs, they could just search by her name! 😊 Just one case I thought of. Maybe more? Please give it a try, and suggest new features that you would like to see. I work on this 1-2 hours after work when I have time, and would love to see other people find a use case that helps them in their day-to-day lives 😊 This is still in progress. I want to do a full launch in a month or so, once I get all the docs in order, finish some tasks, and make the setup a tad bit easier! Please ⭐ the repo [github.com/krishnasism/heissdocs] if you would like to follow along with the development! I promise to see this project to completion and add any feature requests that you might have 😊
