HEIC formats are great, but they don’t import to Adobe CC or open on Windows PC or Android. Or any pre High Sierra Macs … This is a small multiplatform open source app that easily converts HEIC files to PNG/JPG. It's built with Electron.
@ze_rusty For sure, that works for Mac users, but not so much for Windows users (though, they have other get arounds).
A bit more context... It’s worth pointing out that I did this project for fun. My main goal when I made it (2y ago) was to build desktop apps with Electron and Vuejs + Parcel to explore the ecosystem. This then led to me releasing a boilerplate (https://github.com/a133xz/electr...) mixing the technologies. But if I’d do it again, I’d probably use Vite and maybe not even Electron. Last week, I was exploring Svelte NodeGui and it’s super exciting—the performance and size of the app are not optimal.
Hey, iPhone users 🍎
I once sent a picture from my iPhone to my laptop, and I couldn’t open it in Adobe CC. 😬
I know there are different ways to get around this, like changing your iPhone camera settings or using online conversion tools. But as far as I know, there’s no desktop app (multiplatform) around for easily converting HEIC to JPG/PNG. So, I coded one.
This is a project just for fun. It uses Electron and it’s a wrapper of this npm package: https://www.npmjs.com/package/he...
The app is multiplatform: Windows and Mac. It was designed by Antonio Lozano during a time when isomorphic design was trending. (Yes, we made this app a year ago. Lol.)
