Several family members of mine have trouble hearing. Anytime we would go to a restaurant or café, I would have to shout for them to hear me over the background ambient noise, making the experience less than ideal for both of us. For those with hearing not bad enough to merit expensive hearing aids, but not good enough to enjoy everyday experiences like a coffee with a friend, there had to be a simple solution. However, I couldn’t find what I had in mind and decided to create an app to try and address the problem myself. HearJoy connects multiple sets of personal bluetooth headphones (Airpods, etc) into one audio channel to help boost conversational experiences with the assistance of the mic/speaker of the headphones. Tinkering away on this idea on and off since 2015 with the help of many friends, HearJoy is finally available on the App Store now. If you know anyone that may benefit from it, please feel free to share. Any feedback on this initial version is more than welcome. Simply search for HearJoy in the App Store. Currently for iPhone/iPad only.
