HairCare is an iOS app that provides a personalized hair care experience. You tell us about your hair and scalp peculiarities and our app generates an individual care plan tailored for your profile.
Hi everyone!
My name is Katsiaryna and I’m not an IT geek haha!
I’m a hair care specialist with 10 years of experience. My passion is to make people beautiful and happy.
Psychologists claim that there’s a correlation between the state of your hair and self-esteem. And I cannot agree more.
Several years ago I got to know Alexandra @alexandra_shiliagova1 and she became one of my clients. She had a very ambitious goal - regrowing her hair after being bleached. Also, she suffered from crazy hair loss. I’m sorry for such personal stuff Alexandra, but we agreed that I can share it.
Her life was full of stress, so she developed telogen effluvium. Telogen effluvium is a form of temporary hair loss that usually happens several months after a person experiences a traumatic event or stress.
My services are not only about salon procedures. My understanding is that hair care is a journey.
That being said, I used to create care plans for my clients. I used Google Calendar to create hair care plans for my clients. My clients love it! They were able to change their locks tremendously with the help of those scheduled routines.
The idea was the following: the treatment plan was a series of routines tracked via the calendar. For every routine, a reminder was scheduled. That was the infrastructure I used to deliver the content.
The regimen is essential when comes to hair health - it works in the same way as for workouts. Patience, correct routines and products are the keys to success.
Alexandra was impressed by this idea and we decided that “wow, it sounds like an app, the app that would help to deliver personalized hair care plans and content”.
And just like that, it all started. Love our team @alexandra_shiliagova1 and @pavel_shilyagov
I’m very happy to be a part of this team and I hope that our app will bring lots of value
(guys, my English is very poor. I spent several days preparing this speech. Sorry if there’re lots of errors)
@alexandra_shiliagova1@pavel_shilyagov@katsiaryna_shushkova This is the most important thing when there is a product specialist on the team. It is one of the components of success. I wish you good luck, since you have helped your clients, you can help the next...
Hello Product Hunt!
My name is Pavel and I’m co-founder of HairCare App. I’m mostly responsible for technical part of the application.
I enjoy developing and delivering this app which provides good value for many women. We didn’t see any real competitors in the App Store before we started. On one hand it was scary to pave new way. But on the other hand we were super excited, since we knew how many women struggle trying to restore their best hair look.
Current version of the app is mostly focused on personal hair care plan and articles from our experts. But we have a huge roadmap with some cool features, such as:
- detecting hair problems using phone camera and ML models
- scanner of important ingredients in hair care products to help users to pick the right one
- advanced hair changes tracking with notes, photos, hair-twin searching and more!
Feel free to ask any questions!
@pavel_shilyagov That's how I believe the applications of the future should be like. The combination of solid scientific models hidden by easy-to-use interfaces. By the way how accurate are your ML models for detecting hair problem, could you share some numbers?
@pavsad It's hard to pick one, haha. You know, in modern mobile development fast iterations is the most essential requirement, so we needed proper dev environment and infrastructure to deliver new versions fast enough. Right now we have good solution with end-end tests and automated CI/CD pipeline. So it's just several buttons that are needed to be pushed and new stable version is in the store.
@pavsad Yes, we believe that too. There is so much power in a handheld in your pocket, so you can even build and train neural network on it.
Unfortunately we can't share any numbers yet, we are still on trial and error phase. We just want to make sure that our solution wouldn't be just yet another unusable buzzword, but rather really useful and handy. It should do the job done without a hustle and we will get there!
@yury_rudnitski hi, thanks for your question! We used Instagram for this purpose. Instagram is a powerful platform where you can find lots of hidden communities. All the interviews were arranged through our App Instagram account. We're simply chasing "hair-related" accounts, building the community around them and keep asking the questions.
To be honest, Insta accounts of hair maniacs who create hair health marathons, and sell hair guides are our main competitors
@yury_rudnitski@katsiaryna_shushkova A lot of people lack a systematic way to take care of themselves, but in life of course, if you solve this problem and make a grooming calendar, that's really cool!
@yury_rudnitski@katsiaryna_shushkova@ksenijaluskina that’s the intention. It’s hard but really rewarding as lots of people have hair problems but are simply lost in the hair care aisle at the shop. It’s a never-ending story to actually understand your hair and scalp needs. Thanks for your feedback! Means a lot
@yury_rudnitski@ksenijaluskina yes, the idea is to have a calendar and follow the plan. But we need to motivate people. Not everyone understands it's a long journey. Alexandra spent three years regrow her bleached blonde...
