They claim "For every coupon you use, we´ll donate a meal", as much as I am for this, I wonder how sustainable this is in terms of margins?

@BlendahTom i just replied further up in the thread on the inception of the idea - as for getting to where we are now, it's been a lot of fun and hard work! What is unique about my experience w GivingAssistant is that each member of the team is deeply passionate about our mission. It makes it easier to make tough decisions, sort out priorities, and makes it exciting to wake up every morning. We feel we are living the dream! (as corny as that sounds)

@BlendahTom I'd be happy to. I've written a lot of code over the years and it started getting mundane. I kept finding the only projects that resonated with me were those that had more of a purpose at the end of the day. It wasn't until I realized the only ones making a difference for me were those which ended up being for fun. That's when I realized I had to make a change. Life is finite. I didn't want to keep chasing a dream of working to survive and hacking to stay fulfilled when I could be spending that time with my family. Especially while my daughters are still so young and growing. @jamesfgray and I knew each other via a past venture so we re-connected and he told me about the vision; I was beyond excited to be a part of it!

@BlendahTom, thx for hunting Giving Assistant! Before embarking on this journey i was volunteering as a Court Appointed Special Advocate http://givin.ga/WG9xhX . During my training i found there to be no shortage of children in need, nor dedicated people working to help those children, nor brilliant ideas to make desperately needed societal improvements...but what i did find was: a shortage of finances to fund those people and their great ideas. Giving Assistant is a manifestation of the desire to do something about that. It has become a channel for efforts to leverage the ecommerce universe to improve the financing for nonprofit leaders and their philanthropic endeavors.
