GitterBot.io is disrupting the traditional, broken documentation process. Using the latest LLMs and AI to understand your codebase, GittBot.io is a pair programmer for your new hires and an efficient documentation resource for your senior engineers.
🤔 Why do we spend so much time on internal/external documentation and wikis when we know they aren't helping anyone? Traditional documentation standards are simply broken.
✨ My new bootstrapped SaaS, GitterBot.io, solves this for us all, leveraging your already existing code base to create a natural language support assistant for your technical teams (soon non-technicals too!)
💰 To put it simply, I knew every time I touched documentation, it was always rushed (can you relate?). And every time I should be reading existing documentation, I am not. The cost and wasted time here is astronomical for all startups and products.
🚀 Then I had an epiphany!
💻 If GPT can write mind-blowing new code, why can't it be event better at understanding and translating existing code? Yeah, the code we all have locked away in our GitHub accounts in private repositories.
👶 Then, GitterBot.io was born.
💭 GitterBot links with Slack for team collaboration and also has native, in-app chat. Syncing directly with GitHub via a GitHub App, GitterBot.io creates a fully conversational documentation experience in minutes.
🏆 Here's some notable features/use-cases:
- Natural language doc search
- High-level Q/A
- Low-level implementation / pair programming
- Auto-train from merges into your main branch
- Custom document creation for external info
- Dedicated slack channels per assistant
- Share in-app chat with your team/guests
- More soon!
📝 Here's the tech stack:
- Django/Django Rest Framework
- React/Create React App
- Weaviate Vector DB
- LangChain Prompt/Response Post-processing
- GitHub Apps
- Slack Apps
I think that is it in terms of major technologies. Feel free to message me on the site if you want to know anything about my implementation and technical details!
I am super stoked to be live and launching on Product Hunt today, and I cannot wait to hear what you all think!
@wolfofwebsites Really impressive idea! By the way, I run a directory of great ai tools (producthunt.com/products/wikiaitools). Check it out and see if it would be okay to include your product in it?
Congrats on the launch, Stan!
Thoroughly impressed by this, awesome use case for software companies to get value out of LLMs. Tried it out with my React codebase, the ability to get accurate summaries and explanations of complex components is killer. Would be perfect for getting new hires up to speed without needing to spend hours training or writing docs.
Super excited to see where you take this!
@jared_fernando thanks so much! It was so awesome watching you push it's limits and inspire some instant next wins we can take on. Loved seeing it in action so quickly!
I've tested Gitterbot and to see it in action is remarkable. Super easy to install and even easier to use, it's almost like you were talking with that super senior engineer in your company that knows where is every bit of the code base. It's pretty impressive!
We added our repository to GitterBot and it was providing helpful insight in a matter of minutes. Now we have instant, helpful context instead of wasting time searching git blame and reaching out to the original developer to understand how something works. I'm excited to see how much it can improve our velocity!
