This is another side project of mine I created around the idea of helping gig workers. I think a lot of attention is paid to the consumer side of the gig economy (getting anything you want on demand!) but not a lot of attention has been paid to the worker side. So this project is another attempt of mine to help out workers.
A big problem for gig workers is trying to manage and keep track of all their finances across the various gig platforms. Each app (Lyft, DoorDash, Uber, Postmates, etc.) can keep track of your earnings, but most gig workers work for more than one app. If you work lots of gigs across apps, it can easily become hard to manage. Gig Bot is an effort to make this a bit simpler. All you have to do is send it a message when you're done working a shift, telling it who you worked for, how much you made, and when the shift was. After using Gig Bot for awhile, you can then ask it for your earnings. Either for a particular platform or across all.
As more and more gig workers use Gig Bot, we can start to do more interesting things with the data, like tell workers what gigs they should work and when. But that's getting a little ahead of ourselves :)
