Hi, we're GW! Born out of a frustration of never being able to 'find our place' at work. We're a community-first career platform that helps folks with non-linear, non-traditional careers move further, faster.
Hi folks! I'm Milly, founder of Generalist World. The idea for GW came to me in my kitchen, when I was working as a Director of Misc (true story!) for a mental health tech company.
I asked myself: why don't I know any other 'Director of Misc'? Why do I cringe when someone asks me what I do? Am I the only one with this non-linear kinda career? How can I create more meaningful opportunities for generalists to land dream roles?
And so, the obsession began.
Within 3 weeks I'd quit my job to go all in on GW. 2 years later, here I am, bringing my pride and joy to Product Hunt π
The core of our company, is our community. I don't say that lightly. I put my $$ where my mouth is. The first person I hired was Ece - a wonderful community operations strategist. Today we have a paid members subscription with 500+ members from 20+ countries. Bringing people together is our bread and butter.
What started as a community has grown arms and legs, and I have an incredible all-women team who builds alongside me. Through media (high-quality content + the Generally Curious podcast), gorgeous IRL gatherings, and disruptive recruitment, we're truly redefining how the world sees generalists (literally, just last week I submitted a new definition to the dictionary π€£).
We're an intentionally small, remote-first team who are united to find ways for generalists to meet companies who value, support, and retain the amazing talent that they are.
I'm so passionate about helping to mobilize people to work on problems where they're not squeezed into a box. My big bet? This is the future of work. If you're a generalist, please come and say hi! We'd love to meet you.
Appreciate everyone's support so much! β€οΈ
@milly_t Followed GW for a while, really resonated with my background across lots of different areas. Good luck with the launch. I hope to join when the waiting list opens back up!
@milly_t suchhh a huge fan of everything you do! GW has helped our business so much, helping us find the most incredible people to join our team, and normalising that not everyone suits becoming a specialist. So grateful.
