Remote working has created a huge opportunity for collaboration to occur across universities all over the world. Genchi allows students across universities with similar interests to meet and share ideas whilst working on projects in collaboration.
@james_lloyd3 awesome app idea. When I was in college, my friends and I collaborated on a project that became the largest student-run organization ever at the university. When I graduated we set out to create a social networking app specifically for college students. Our app had about 50 campus ambassadors across the country (US). We did weekly google hangout calls and really cultivated our own mini-community that pushed the app farther than it was supposed to go lol it wasn't that great of an app idea but the experience getting it off the ground with the ambassadors was so awesome!
There is so much opportunity hidden on college campuses. Students are eager to get their feet wet with projects that they're passionate about. There's no doubt that Genchi is on to something here. This is a need that truly has yet to be solved.
Questions - how are the projects uploaded to the app? Can any student create a project that other students can jump aboard and join? Does Genchi offer any product management services to help the projects along the way?
Also, if Genchi doesn't already have a campus ambassadorship program, I highly recommend it.
Congrats on the launch! Nice project!
@felecia_genet Thank you so much for your comment!
That sounds like a really interesting journey you went on with your app, and I would really like to hear more about it, but no problem if you're busy!
The projects are uploaded in two ways. The first is any student group can create an account and share their project. The project will then be added to a feed on the home page for all the users to see. The other way is through the Genchi Team finding projects that are poorly advertised and promote them ourself on the platform (with the project group's consent).
Individual students are also able to post their own opportunities / projects on the platform for people to apply to.
We don't currently offer product management services, but that is a great suggestion that we have been looking in to in some form. For the project group, we are trying to improve the recruitment process. For the individual, motivated student, we are trying to present the projects in the easiest and most coherent way, whilst also finding the most exciting projects that students can collaborate on. The cherry on top is allowing this collaboration and connection to occur across geographies with other motivated students.
Thank you for your suggestions, we will definitely work on them!
As a student at the University of Cambridge, UK we noticed there was no centralised platform to see all the incredible opportunities going on within the student community.
After running Genchi successfully in Cambridge, we realised that remote working is a great opportunity for students all over the world to connect and collaborate on projects. We are now aiming to grow inter-uni collaboration to increase the spread of ideas and innovations amongst students.
