👋 Hey PH! Today I'm excited to finally share Game Quitters with you. For over 10 years I struggled with a video game addiction which caused me to drop out of high school, never go to college, and pretend to have jobs deceiving my family. Eventually I wrote a suicide note and it was that night when I realized I needed to make a change. When I searched for help online I didn't find any, and instead I found suggestions like "to study more" or to "hang out with my friends" - advice that sounds good but doesn't work. After recovering from my own addiction I shared my story in a blog post and heard from thousands of other people who were also struggling and wanted help. So I launched Game Quitters. Here's how it works: ⚽️ New Hobby Ideas We have an interactive tool to help you find new hobbies. There are over 70 activity ideas and 12 filters to choose from. 📹 200+ Videos Over the years I've seen hundreds of different questions on how to quit, and we have over 200 videos documenting each of them. Everything from how to deal with cravings, to what will happen to your gamer friends, to how to stop mindlessly browsing the internet, to dealing with nostalgia, and more. 💬 Community Forum Journaling about your experience can be very helpful, not only for yourself but to also receive support from peers. On the forum we have over 2,000 people interacting and exchanging tips and strategies, including in six languages. 👨🏼‍💻👩🏽‍💻 Real Stories I'm just an example of one person who struggled with this addiction, and there are many others just like me. We now have over 70 published stories from former addicts sharing what helped them quit gaming and turn their lives around. 💰 Paid Programs Although 99% of the website is free and you can find all of the answers you are looking for without paying a dime, we have a paid ($27-$47) program for gamers and a paid ($97-$197) program for parents/loved ones which are structured step-by-step exactly what you need to do to quit with additional bonuses. ---- For more info see http://gamequitters.com I'd be happy to answer any questions!

The problem is not in the games. The problem is in the weak people who abuse games, drugs, food, sex, porn, alcohol, damn every shit that releases dopamine.

As a former 'video game addict' myself, I can't overstate how important I think this project is. I never used Game Quitters myself, but I wish I had. I wish that I had found Game Quitters when I was younger, as Video Games were essentially the only thing I was living for. Video Games prevented me from getting outside and experiencing the world when I needed it most - when I was a deeply unhealthy kid who couldn't walk and who had been hospitalised and away from people his own age for a few years. Some things, like social interaction, I still struggle with today, and I wonder if that would have been the case if I quit video games. I'm lucky that my path in life moved me away from Video Games, but I know others aren't so lucky. This is why I think the world needs Game Quitters to raise awareness of these issues. I met Cam two months ago, and just by my interactions with him, I realised that even after a year since I last played a video game, it still has a big effect on my lifestyle and thought patterns. I've found Cam's Game Quitters YouTube channel helpful in indentifying those problems. I think it says a lot that when I wanted to learn web development, the first thing I made was from a video game. And even now, I still find myself watching videos and streams of gaming from time to time, and Cam's work has helped me to realise my actions are having a negative impact on my life.
