Forky is a mind-mapping tool that is distraction free, with a minimal feature set. • colorful bubble and line diagrams • real-time collaboration • easy and quick to use • no distractions Web app in beta. Mobile coming soon!
Hey Hunters and Makers!
Forky is a mind-mapping web app that I have been building as a side-project for a long time. .Indie hacker style.
Here's a little backstory of how and why I made Forky.
--
Over my career, I've loved brainstorming ideas for apps. Years ago, I would do this by drawing bubble and line diagrams in my notebooks.
Eventually, I wanted to know if there was some app I could use so I could have this all in the cloud. Something like Google Docs, or Evernote, but for mind-maps.
Searching around on the web was unfruitful.
All of the other mind-mapping apps were too distracting or bloated for my use. There seemed to always be too many features, too many things on the screen, or too many steps to do things.
I didn't need much more than text, bubbles and lines, but i found these apps with dozens of buttons, with everything crammed on the screen at the same time. Some had me attaching ends of lines to different sides of boxes. *eye roll*
I thought to myself, I can make a better one, and started prototyping.
After a few versions, complete rewrites, and many years, I have a result I think is ready for some beta users to enjoy!
Me and my friend who is a web developer have used it over the years and had a positive experience. Recently, I noticed some internet citizens follow some links to my app, and actually make several large diagrams without any intervention from me. This made me very very happy!
I hope you can also have some fun making diagrams with Forky!
Try it out! Who couldn't use a web diagram or two?!
*crosses fingers*
Thanks everyone!
@gold_panda Hey, thanks for checking it out and letting me know!
I think it could be because I have configured some state tokens that get passed between Forky and google to time out after only 5 minutes.
I'll get right on debugging that, thanks.
Does refreshing the page and logging in right away fix it for you?
@gold_panda I know this is still an issue. Thanks for being patient. I think if you do the google login twice in a row it will work for now.
I saw this on another persons laptop, and need to do some more bug squishing. Sorry about that!
