@harryraymond thanks for the post! I'm the designer and developer behind the app, let me know if you have any questions about it - been a really fun & rewarding experience!
@allmakebelieve Looking forward to watching the doc! How do you plan to keep people engaged with the app? Curious to know if you've included habit-design features to get people to track their food consumption and assist them in making a lasting change?
@robjama - great question. In the original concept we explored systems that could help users track food consumption or habits, but after talking through the idea in more detail with the Forks Over Knives team they were keen to avoid encouraging nutrient tallying and calorie counting which can create more problems than they solve. One of the (many) great things about adopting a whole-food, plant-based diet is that the recommendation is to eat until you're comfortably satiated instead of counting calories. The higher water and fiber content of whole plant-based foods allows your body to more accurately gauge how much food we need to eat.
One way we do help keep users engaged is by continually updating the app each week with new recipes from leading plant-based chefs. These weekly updates are all free, so users are encouraged to revisit the app and try out new recipes. We also regularly update a section in the app called 'success stories' - short inspirational stories from people who've made dramatic changes to their lives as a result of following the diet. This content is being added frequently which we hope will help to keep users motivated and engaged.
I hope that answers your question - and more than happy to discuss any other ideas with you! I hope you enjoy the documentary too.
