Come on, I wanted to learn Spanish, I even clicked on it, but I was paired with a Nepalese guy who didn't know any Spanish, he did know Hindi. Help me out :(
@abdussamit We are working on that ;) We recently added a report button, so that you can report the chat if it is not the right language.
We hope that our audience gets more international, so that we cover most languages.
How would you solve the problem?
@thecreativchris Thanks for replying.
Before I give a short solution, how do you sign up native speakers? Do they go through a test or what? I mean how do you "label" someone as Spanish, Italian, Dutch etc.?
A short test would be to translate a paragraph in that said language, and then set a minimum bar they have to cross, I'm sure there are libraries/algorithms for that already.
The first few hundred users in such a product must be handpicked so visitors have a great experience.
We can shift this discussion to e-mail if you want: tayyab.abdussami@gmail.com
Good idea but the product simply doesn't work. You should pair someone who want to learn Spanish with someone who can actually speak Spanish. Plus, I chated with 5 people, all of them were here to meet girls, not learn languages. Congratulations for recreating Omegle and Chatroulette in Facebook.
@vincentgalan We are thinking of adding the proficiency - three levels: Beginner, Intermediate, Expert. This way we are able have a better matching.
Additionally, we want to analyze the language and make sure that the first messages are in the right language. If it is the wrong language, then the users are not connected and they are prompted to choose the right language for the next chat.
What do you think about that?
@ourielohayon The bot puts you in touch with a human. I'm chatting with Juan, he wants to learn english, I want to learn spanish
longer term something like https://www.producthunt.com/post... makes sense (pure AI) but for now more likely to learn spanish with my buddy Juan :D
