Track what you eat and elevate your nutrition game
FoodNoms is a nutrition tracker designed to be fast, powerful, and easy to use. Set custom nutrition goals, log your food, and measure your progress.
Available for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and macOS.
Hey everyone! I'm the indie maker of FoodNoms, a nutrition tracking app for iPhone, iPad, and macOS.
The nutrition tracking space on the App Store is extremely competitive. FoodNoms differentiates itself with its focus on design, user experience, and data privacy. Itās also extremely customizable with the ability to track specific goals for calories, macronutrients, and sixteen other nutrients.
Three years ago, I launched the first version of my food tracking app, FoodNoms, and shared it with you all here on PH. Since then, I've been continuously iterating on the product and food database.
Today I'm excited to share with you the biggest update to the app yet ā what I have nicknamed "FoodNoms 2". This update delivers many of the top-requested features that the app has received over the years and more.
- New design for the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Mac (Catalyst).
- Sync nutrition data from other apps via Apple Health. FoodNoms 2 implements a robust syncing solution that allows users to pull in data from other apps and devices. e.g. smart water bottles (e.g. HidrateSpark), meal subscription services (e.g. HelloFresh), and other food tracking apps (e.g. Lose It!, MyFitnessPal, etc.)
- iCloud data encryption. FoodNoms now automatically encrypts your food log, library, meal types, and goals before uploading to iCloud. And with Appleās newly announced Advanced Data Protection for iCloud enabled, this data is also end-to-end encrypted. With this level of security, never worry again about who might have access to what you eat.
- Custom meal types. Configure custom meal types (e.g. ādessertā) to organize your food log and make it easier to log repeated meals.
- New favorites bar. Save your favorite foods, recipes, and meals with custom icons for quick-and-easy logging.
- Nutrition goal recommendations for macros, fiber, saturated fat, sodium, water, and more. These recommendations are based on published dietary guidelines from the USDA, HHS, and CDC.
- More powerful goals. Track your calories with an automatically adjusting goal based on your body profile and energy data from Apple Health. Set percentage-based goals for your macros.
- New database search backend. Find the right foods faster with improved search results.
- And more. The update includes many other various improvements and features, including CSV export and a smarter āSmart Suggestionsā algorithm.
All of the above-listed features will be available to all users for free, except the following, which will require a FoodNoms Plus subscription: custom meal types, favorites bar, syncing nutrition data from Apple Health, and using resting energy data from Apple Health. FoodNoms Plus also unlocks other features including drink logging, water tracking, caffeine & alcohol tracking, and more charts and stats.
To celebrate the launch here on Product Hunt, I'm extending a special discount to you all: $19.99 for the first year of new subscriptions (33% off). Use this URL to redeem: https://apps.apple.com/redeem?ct...
It's my mission to help others achieve their nutrition goals ā whatever that might be: losing weight, gaining weight, improving heart health, managing sugar, etc. I'd love to hear your feedback and suggestions about how I can make the app work better for you.

FoodNoms 2 is sooooo good. I used V1 on and off but could never stick to it for some reason. However, as soon as Ryan allowed me to start beta testing V2, I have nnot looked back.
For me, the killer feature is the 2-way HealthKit sync. This allows me to add my meals via Gousto/HelloFresh apps, and have them appear in FoodNoms instantly. It saves me so much time every day. Plus, my Hidrate Spark water bottle syncs to the app too via this.
The favorites bar also saves me a lot of time every day when i track my 40000 cups of tea per day!
All of this, plus knowing my data is all nicely encrypted in my own iCloud makes FoodNoms 2 the best nutrition tracker app available today by far.
@scott_robertson Thanks so much Scott! You've been an *amazing* beta tester. I'm very grateful for all of your feedback in the past few months. And so glad to hear all of these features are helping you!
My favourite food tracker. Really nice intuitive features. I love the charts. They help easily see where my calories and macros are and give me a comparison for last week. I keep a close eye on this week's averages so even if I'm over one day on my calories I can balance it out before the week is over.
