π Hey Product Hunt! Stephan here β maker of FileFillet.
Do you also end up with a plethora of Finder windows when organizing, copying, or moving files? For me, they pile up until I lose track and have to close them all just to start fresh.
Thatβs why I built FileFillet β a macOS app that lets you transfer files without the clutter of endless Finder windows.
Last week, I released v2.5 β an update that was many months in the making and is already being used by a growing number of users. Today, I'm excited to finally share the app with the Product Hunt community.
It includes:
β‘ Quickly copy or move files to your favorite folders
π Switch between sets of favorites depending on your current focus
β Always accessible via global keyboard shortcuts
π Built from the ground up for macOS in Swift
You can check it out here: filefillet.com
My goal is to make FileFillet the most efficient and reliable way to transfer and organize files on macOS β whether you're managing everyday tasks or handling large file workflows.
Iβd love to hear your feedback, ideas, or feature requests. Letβs make file handling on the Mac smarter and faster, together. π
Just gave FileFillet a spin β finally a tool that respects the sanity of power users on macOS! π₯ The fact that you can quickly move/copy files without the clutter of Finder chaos is such a relief. Global shortcuts + favorites sets = streamlined file flow, especially when juggling multiple projects.
Love the clean native Mac build too. Curious β any plans to support drag-and-drop from within the menu bar? Thatβd be a slick touch. Great work, Stephan! π
I actually considered adding this a while ago. But the menu bar can get pretty crowded, and the icons up there are small and not always ideal for quick interaction. Thatβs why I explored a couple of alternative ways to access the panel more directly:
When dragging a file, just press the Ctrl key β the panel will pop up right at your mouse pointer.
Thereβs also a small handle on the left edge of the screen. You can drag files there to open the panel β similar to how a menu bar icon might work. You can customize that handle in the settings (position, color, size, etc.) (check out the gif below to see it in action)
Interestingly, Iβve heard more often from users who want to remove the menu bar icon because they already have too many up there π. But your suggestion made me to revise the prio in my backlog on this. With the feedback from others I should probably spend some time on the settings of the menu bar icon.

You came in just in time. I am moving my invoices from one folder to another, and have a mess in the files. You created it for people like me! :D
