We realized we were not the only ones missing on the old UA interface, so we built these dashboards for GA4. They are easy to set-up, understand, and use. You don't have to get into advanced data science tooling to keep using your Google Analytics.
Hi Product Hunt! We're thrilled to share this with you because we've noticed how many people struggle with GA4 on a daily basis. Google Analytics is a staple for nearly every website, yet many who manage these platforms find themselves missing the familiar UA interface.
Don't misunderstand us; GA4 offers several technical advancements that are truly beneficial – using event tracking for every interaction, for example, is fantastic. However, the changes to the interface have jumbled everything up, making it difficult to locate what you need where you used to find it. This often leads to people wasting precious time battling with filters or reevaluating their life choices as they navigate to Looker and other "advanced" platforms.
Our primary focus as a startup lies elsewhere: we utilize generative AI for data analytics. Hal9 creates dashboards, reports, and other analytics assets (mostly for enterprise data). Interestingly, we began noticing a trend where both we and some of our customers were using our product for Google Analytics data. Initially, we struggled with GA4's native dashboards and thought perhaps our lack of marketing expertise was to blame. However, after observing similar patterns among our customers and engaging in discussions with friends in digital marketing, we realized that a significant number of GA4 users were facing the same problem. We explored into Reddit and Twitter (we haven't moved on to "X") and discovered hundreds of posts highlighting this issues. This insight led us to develop a product specifically tailored for GA4, applying Hal9's generic capabilities to Google Analytics data. Throughout this journey, we were fortunate to receive invaluable guidance from digital marketing advisors at Frontside Consulting, who provided feedback that helped us refine our selection of dashboards. Our guiding design principle was to create something both simple and user-friendly.
Obviously, we don't see the current version of the dashboards as final. We are eager to hear your feedback and recommendations to expand FGA4.
Congratulations on the launch! 🎉 As someone who deals with Google Analytics on a daily basis, it's refreshing to see a solution that addresses the complexities of the new interface while harnessing the power of generative AI for data analytics. It's clear that a lot of thought and effort has gone into crafting a user-friendly experience. Great work!
I'm a bit concerned about what you're gonna do with my data. Your Tos and Privacy policies seem pretty vague about it. If I understand well that one has to give you permissions on their Google user and that your Hal9 AI access and process all the data, I warmly suggest you to be more clear and straightforward about it. Do you store them? How will you use them? Selling them? Retain them when I'm gone? You're handling very sensible data which involve not just your client's but also their clients' privacy. You might want to assess this; personally, as it stands right now, I wouldn't be allowed to use your services according to my company's internal security and privacy policies.
Other than that, congrats for the launch and for the idea behind it. I also, like many, hate GA4 dashboard 😉
Thanks for your message @fabiosalvadori ! Yeah we really hope to help everyone struggling with GA4.
Regarding data privacy. We are very concerned with that topic. Actually, on our genAI product on Hal9 our main differenciator is that we don't send any of the data to OpenAI or any other LLM provider. This comes both from our beliefs as a company but also after hearing numerous customers concerned with OpenAI gathering, processing, and leaking their data.
We are currently updating our Privacy Policy to make it more specific (thank you for your feedback). However, to provide a quick explanation, we only use meta-data to provide and improve functionality (we really don't need to train/use models on the contents of databases, we only require meta-data like column names and table schemas to generate/improve the code that process them).
If FGA4 or Hal9 interests your company, we can go through cibersecurity concerns and SLAs during your Enterprise onboarding process. Please feel free to request a demo on hal9.com so we can initiate that conversation!
