This could do with some more thorough explanation about what it actually does. I don't understand how anything in the "Fence helps you to avoid..." section works.
Payment Security: BitDefender has a custom secure browser (SafePay) that runs in fullscreen mode to tackle this problem. It's explained in great detail here: https://www.bitdefender.com/cons... What does a chrome extension do about this?
Remote Execution: Are you blocking JavaScript? This is the responsibility of web developers. For an extension to do anything around this, it would have to block some code on a website and I don't know how that helps to begin with.
Cookies and Browser Cache: This is an extension that's always running in the background... what happens to my cookies and cache that I want to keep? Again, this is what things like Incognito and SafePay solve for. I don't understand how this ties to a chrome extension.
Saved Login Credentials: This literally just looks like a recommendation. Which doesn't entirely make sense by itself. Chromes password manager is just as secure as KeePass and LastPass. But once again... what does this have to do with your extension?
@ethan_glover Agreed. The colors and design and everything look great, but… what does this even do ?makers
“One day he was browsing Facebook and saw a fantastic deal for a new TV, however, the website was a replica.” → How would Fence prevent this from happening? Does it identify replica websites? If so, how? Explain please 😅 It’s really ironic to ask people to trust your security software without telling them how it works.
@ethan_glover
Hey Ethan, Thanks for the comment and this is my first product launch so the tips are super helpful.
We parse browser executed code on our secure test environment to analyse code and websites intentions using our AI models.
Once a score for a website is captured, we actively block poor performing sites for users safety. An example would be in cryptocurrency, a website allows wallet connection but is building a transaction to send your tokens to a wallet - we would pick this up as a poor intention and score the site lowely.
Hope this helps - sorry for the slow reply, I was out of office!
@anna_0x
Hey Anna,
Thanks for the response! It's a great question, I will look to amend the website, graphics and PH page to be more clear on how it all works.
We monitor for a number of things but some key points are duplicate code, non-official domains and unexpected code. I mentioned this in my reply to Ethan but thought I would note it here as well :)

@tombowern This sounds both intrusive and like a horribly bad idea.
JS engines like V8 already take care of performance issues in code during compilation. I can guarantee that's not what this is doing. This is making wide and dangerous assumptions about intent.
It's going to be wrong. A lot. And create issues for users. The opaque descriptions are very shady. And this idea of blocking code is just going to break things.
@ethan_glover All negative responses are reviewed by the team first before being put into place, we aim to block malicious websites in general and not a single code performance issue.
It's here to stop more general unknowledgeable users from accessing cloned sites or sites that are used to scam individuals of funds.
All blocked sites will appear with the fence logo and an 'Im sure I want to continue' button that allows to see the reasons it was blocked and make a safe and mindful decision on if they want to continue!
Hope this helps!
Hey All,
Thanks for taking a look at Fence! This project started when my father-in-law was scammed while buying a new TV.
One day he was browsing Facebook and saw a fantastic deal for a new TV, however, the website was a replica. With his cash gone, I thought it's a dangerous world out there for that less tech-literate
Please do let me know any thoughts!
Tom
