👋 Hey, PH! And thanks @bobbythakkar for hunting us! Authentication is, quite literally, a barrier to entry. And not just for your users, but for you, the maker as well. As hobbyists, we felt we were spending *way* too much time adding auth to our apps. So we decided to build Feather! ⚡️ Build an entire sign-in flow in 5 minutes or less. With Feather, adding Passwordless or Email/Password+Reset login flows to your app is as simple as importing the Feather React library. Thanks @carsonjonze! The backend API is built with Go+PostgreSQL and runs on AWS. The frontend website+docs are all React. And that survey form is using the Airtable API under-the-hood (it's pretty magic! 🧙🏻‍♂️) As for how Feather came to be, the idea originated from having struggled with a number of other auth services when building prior apps. We were wasting so much time on basic table-stakes features, that we thought there had to be a simpler way. When we couldn't find what we were looking for, we decided to build it! So we did a deep dive into technical aspects of authentication (researching JWTs, OAuth, OIDC, MFA, SAML, SSO), synthesized all the jargon into an API that made sense to us, and then wrote a little code to bring it to life. And while not all of those technologies are featured in Feather today, we plan to integrate many of them in the future! 😊🛠
