Eter is a straightforward music player that lets you play any station in radio-browser.info or play any stream by entering its URL. Eter works on everything Apple, from iPhone and iPad to Mac, tvOS and the Watch. Eter supports AirPlay & CarPlay.
The story of how Eter 2.0 came about is an interesting one:
It starts at Macworld 2011. My business partner and I had a booth for Apparent Software, and obviously, we’ve met a lot of press there. One of them was Krystian Kozerawski, a Polish tech blogger. We got really friendly, in part because of our common love for similar music and both of us being guitarists, having played in bands. We kept in touch, and a few years later, Krystian decided to become a Swift developer.
Then, he joined Apparent Software as a Junior Developer, more than five years ago. He developed Eter as a side-project, and it became quite popular in Poland.
He then suggested bringing it into Apparent Software’s fold because, as he says, he treats us like a rock band, and the app is like a song that he brings to the band. Which is a really nice notion, if you ask me. And now, back to the app:
We see a lot of customer liking the straight-forward approach that Eter took to the online radio experience and of course how it works across Apple devices. It's cheap, too.
We have many plans to improve it. We called version 2.0 "2.Beautiful", and we're now going to address commonly requested features, making it more useful to more people in the next updates.
@jacobgorban This is really cool Jacob.
Which countries does Eter support?
I'm asking because in poorer countries, people only have one device (their phone). So they use it for everything, including listening to radios.
@kingromstar We had a user review on version 1 where he said he threw out his car radio and replaced it with Eter. I thought this was hyperbolic until I tried Eter with CarPlay when I traveled. It’s so handy and a great interface. You can set up your favorite stations (like your home local news or whatever) as favorites (with Eter Premium, costs less than an airport Starbucks) and then you just plug your phone into your rental car and there’s your familiar listening. I seriously think of this as a travel app (among other things) for this reason.
