Want to avoid easy distractions when you pick up your iPhone?
Dumb Phone has your back by transforming it into a minimalist style phone to reduce phone addiction, swapping flashy icons / colors with a sleek and minimal Home Screen for accessing essential apps.
This removes the addictive dopamine from your phone which helps you think twice about why you just picked it up without realising, like we always do each day!
Hey everyone, I'm Michael. Back again with another exciting launch!! 👋
Introducing Dumb Phone - an app that transforms your iPhone into a minimalist style phone. ☎️
After I launched focusedOS last month, which hides all distractions on Mac with one click, I'm bringing that same vibe to iOS with Dumb Phone.
It will swap out flashy icons & colors with a sleek and minimal Home Screen that helps you avoid easy distractions and dopamine hits.
🚨 I've been using this every day for the last month and my screen time has nosedived. When I pick my phone I don't open random things anymore and it has completely changed how I interact with it.
Here's a few key things it does:
👉 simplify the home screen; replace colorful app icons, wallpapers, and pesky notification badges with simple text buttons
👉 quick app access; select essential apps that you frequently access so they’re always a tap away
👉 style your new home screen; choose from a Dark or Light theme, the text font, size, positioning, color
There's more, such as shortcuts support for adjusting which apps are displayed so you can tie this in with any automations.
Try it out for yourself, add the apps that you use most of the time, and let me know what you think!
I've tried to include many popular + indie apps so you can easily add them to your new Home Screen. 😊
It's free to use with a trial period, has a lifetime option to perpetually upgrade, which you can upgrade at the big existing discount to celebrate this launch.
I am especially excited to launch Dumb Phone on Product Hunt today after the incredible feedback it's received on Twitter the past 48 hours.

Thank you so much! 🙏 🚀
PS: If you have an Android phone, sorry! Search up Minimalist Phone instead. They are doing incredible work over there. 😁
@teeeeeegz I know I'm going to love this app so much! Congrats in advance on the launch. I'm confident that the onboarding experience will be so well-crafted and will help me fight my phone addiction!
@teeeeeegz Ohhh, this is sooo good! Congrats on the launch! Definitely a game-changer for productivity. It’s like bringing back the simplicity of the old Nokia 3310 – just what we need to cut through the noise and focus on what really matters (though I might miss playing Snake).
@alexjonsson Perhaps you could argue the same for the other apps that came before that one, where it took inspiration from.
Dumb Phone was going to be another tab in focusedOS until it was too big to be self contained (since focusedOS is essentially DP minimalism for Mac), and I wouldn't be able to market it properly.
It takes inspiration from the sleek + well designed Android app called Minimalist Phone. See the maker shoutouts above for more details about that app.
Congratulations on the fantastic launch of Dumb Phone, Michael! You mentioned that your screen time has significantly decreased since using Dumb Phone. How has the app quantitatively affected your daily screen time?
@jordan31 Thank you for the support Michael! 🙏
I think the biggest win out of simplifying my home screen is that when I pick up my phone to do something i'm no longer inclined to naturally tap an app icon that generally delivers a dopamine boost, instead of performing the task I wanted to do in the first place.
It's a mental hack for me seeing "instagram" / "tiktok" in words, since my brain needs to first read the text i'm focusing on and decide whether to tap it.
Thus, no longer spending tens of minutes in irrelevant apps each time which compounds across the day.
Works a treat 😁
