We built Dtermin to tackle a problem that many entrepreneurs (including ourselves), smb's, marketers and bloggers had with current tools (including Google keyword planner) - and that was the difficulty and time it took to find really great terms to target.
The way we see it, no amount of search marketing voodoo can fix bad targeting. Which is a serious problem, because online success is linked to the quality of the search terms that you target. The learning curve for a lot of people was also a barrier to understanding search engine marketing. We wanted keyword research to be simple and easy to get.

@yo Googles keyword planner is good, but not the best.
Most keyword tools (including ours) provide Google search data, but their competitive ranking and suggested costs data comes exclusively from Google, and it rarely reflects the current situation. The risk is that users will focus their online efforts on the wrong keyword targets.
Even though we include Google data, we adjust the competitive ranking based on the actual search results in a particular space. The benefit is that you can base your keyword targeting decisions on a more accurate view of the competition.
Google suggestions are also most often irrelevant to a business, and it’s never clear if they were suggested for your good or theirs (Googles).
Our unique technology will literally search your market online to find new and relevant keyword ideas (some you may never have even considered). Of course we include Googles suggestions, but only the ones relevant to your business.
We also give users the opportunity to enter goals, so that we can adjust the weighting of various data points, crunch the numbers (volume, competition, cost, trends etc..) and re-sort the data so that the most profitable terms rise to the top. Even though the user picks the targets, the full power of our analysis engine is focussed on analyzing the entire market based on their search marketing goals.
