I was never really into the Dry January thing. Why restrict myself with arbitrary rules? But last year I read about this study (https://psycnet.apa.org/doiLandi...), and it completely changed my perspective. The findings are crazy. In 2016, researchers followed up w/ 249 men and 608 women who did Dry January. At 6 month follow-up, ALL participants reported a reduction in their alcohol consumption and an increase in drink refusal self-efficacy. ALL. OF. THEM. This was even true for people who didn't successfully complete the challenge. 😱 So that's when I realized– if just trying to do Dry January would result in me having healthier drinking habits for the full year, it's a worthwhile investment. So I repurposed some code from my product Harold the Habit Tracker and spun it into a group progress tracker for the challenge.
