Hi there! 👋 I’m Dr. Read
If reading out loud feels like performing at an open mic night, don’t worry—I’ll be your hype man. 🎤📚 Meet Dr. Read, the AI tutor that helps you read with confidence!
The problem
You’ve probably heard this stat before: 68% of fourth graders read below grade level in the U.S. It’s heartbreaking, right? And if you add in challenges like dyslexia (which affects 20% of the population), that’s a LOT of people struggling to read—and not because they lack potential, but because they don’t have the support they need.
For decades, private tutors have been the gold standard for personalized reading help. But not everyone can afford that kind of 1-on-1 support. So many people are left behind, and that’s just not okay.
My mission
To help everyone read better—whether it’s a child with dyslexia, a busy adult learning English as a second language, or someone just looking to gain confidence.
How am I doing it? With the power of AI. Think of me as a patient, encouraging reading tutor that’s always ready to help—anytime, anywhere.
My methods
Okay, here’s the good stuff:
🗣️ Listen & Learn
When you read out loud, I listen. I figure out which words or sounds are tricky for you and give instant feedback tailored to your needs.
📖 Read Smarter, Not Harder
I don’t just point out tricky words—I help you master them with real-time feedback and personalized reading support.
🧠 Ask AI for Instant Explanations
Confused by a word or sentence? Just use Ask AI, and I’ll break it down in a way that makes sense—so you’re never stuck guessing the meaning. 🚀📖
A little about me
I was created by two founders who poured their hearts (and wallets 🫣) into making me a reality. My CEO, Thore, struggled with dyslexia as a kid. He used to count paragraphs ahead in class so he could prepare the one he’d have to read aloud. With the help of tutors and teachers, he became a confident reader, but he knows how hard that journey can be.
That’s why I exist: to make sure everyone has access to the kind of support Thore had—no matter their circumstances.
My asks ❓
👉 What would help YOU become a better reader (or help someone you care about)?
👉 What features do you wish existed in a reading tool?
👉 Got any fun or embarrassing childhood reading stories? Share them—I promise I won’t judge!
P.S. My team has been reading, writing, and debugging like crazy to get me here. Luckily, I don’t get tired—so if they start mumbling words, I’ll be the first to correct them. 😏
What do you think? Should I tweak anything or sprinkle in some extra magic?
Reading is the first thing humans learned that wasn't innate. Our brains are wired for language; it comes naturally to us, but putting words into symbols is something we had to learn to do. Reading was the first test of the human brain to show real flexibility and then with mathematics it formed the foundation of civilization.
We here at Dr. Read, believe in those foundations and until we get a full neuro-link those foundations are what humanity will need to stand on.
I welcome all to join us in the AI revolution not as a tool to make humanity dependent but as one that braces the bedrock we already stand on.
I personally struggle with staying focused and feeling like im not progressing. The truth? I didn t need to read for hours on end, I just needed to read less than I thought, which ended up making me read more. Just 20 minutes a day has made all the difference. Small, consistent efforts and the right tools to help add up fast.
Very useful, easy set up and user interface. This addreesses a big need for kids reading development, setting them up for success. And for parents another tool that helps keep their kids engaged in the learning process.
This is a tool we’ve been missing. With AI advancing rapidly, there’s never been a better time to create solutions that empower those who struggle with reading. The impact this can have is huge, and the timing couldn’t be better!
