Dotling is the website builder that achieves high design flexibility without compromising performance, affordability, and accessibility. Made for everyone to build anything.
@dot_michael I see! Just asked because the interface looked quite similar (although of course most of these components have become more or less standard by now)
The code is not exportable?
@anna_0x The design was influenced by many editors but If I had to name one platform that inspired the design the most then that would be Carrd.
Good question. Right now no, but It can be if I have enough feature requests of it. The html/css is not generated on the backend like more traditional builders. The generator is actually a JS file on the client side that parses JSON, which makes up the site.
So if there was an export option right now, the users would not edit html/css but a json to change how the site looks. Do you still think export is still a valuable if you had to edit it that way?
Hey Product Hunters,
For the last 14 months, I have put in countless hours and tear drops building this in a dark cave full of coffee. I will never feel like it's ready, but I can't keep this to myself forever. So today, I am excited to introduce to the public, Dotling.
This space is very crowded with many great products, but I think I found a spot where Dotling is valuable. There are 3 requirements that I aim to achieve :
1. Flexibility. I wanted designers to be able to create what they came up with in their heads. No inflexible blocks and elements. All elements have access to all of the major used css styles.
2. Accessibility. I don't want people to spend ~$150 a year on one website with no ads. A lot of people can't drop that much money at once. Likewise, not everyone has powerful machines; the product is buttery smooth on old, slower devices. Lastly, the product is fully functional on mobile so users can edit on the go.
3. Easy to use. I want Dotling to have a low learning curve. Users only need to understand how a container works to make every layout possible. Pre-made sections and templates are available for building quickly and easily. Copy and pasting between sites is also possible.
I know there is a lot that can be improved. Let me know how close I am to achieving those goals (no registration is required to start building). I really appreciate all comments and feedback. Also, don't forget to use the promo code to get 50% off for life =)
